Accepting credit cards and other forms of electronic payments has never been easier to secure or more vital to insuring an on-going and cost effective re-investment into the operations of your company. However, certain merchants, either through the business model they promote or by the type of products and services they offer, require additional assistance to ensure that they implement electronic payments options to their customers according to all the established Mastercard / VISA standards and guidelines specified in their merchant processing agreement.

To keep it simple, once approved to accept electronic payments, merchants must monitor for potentially fraudulent activity and work diligently to insure that their level of chargebacks remains at a consistently low and insignificant level of their total sales. When a merchant fails in this effort, it is possible for a merchant acquiring bank to place the merchant on the TMF or MATCH File.

The MATCH File is a database file, previously and most commonly known as the Terminated Merchant File or “TMF”. It is maintained by MasterCard International and is the way by which MasterCard and VISA acquiring banks identify merchants, and their principals, which have been terminated for specific reasons that include but is not limited to negligence and fraud. If a merchant is listed on the TMF / MATCH by an acquiring bank, it can greatly diminish the likelihood of gaining acceptance within another merchant account processor.

We can assess your business model and its particular challenges and assist you to develop an operational plan that ensures that you remain in or return to compliance. Specifically, and generally under a fixed fee type of arrangement, we offer the following consulting services and advantages:

  • Develop Merchant Account Reactivation Plans;
  • File a TMF Listing Change or Deletion;
  • Provide Strategic Process Improvement Operational Planning;
  • Provide Advice and Training on Maintaining a Positive Processor Relationship;
  • Answer Specific Acquirer “Chargeback” follow-up Requests and Forms.

If you currently are on or being threatened by your processor or merchant acquiring bank with a potential placement onto the MasterCard International TMF / MATCH File or if you are concerned that your business may generate above average processing risk – We can help!
